How many flower arrangements do you need? A top wedding venue outside shares advice!

As a top wedding venue outside Fourways, we know that flowers play a vital role in almost every wedding – whether it’s modern, romantic or even minimalist.

When it comes to organising your wedding flowers, it’s helpful to have a checklist on hand to make sure that you don’t forget the all the different arrangements you are going to need when you’re ordering for your day.

For the wedding ceremony, there are usually flowers in venue, whether it’s indoors or outside in the gardens. If you are having the reception at another location, it’s not unusual to have different flowers for each location, unless you have a lot of help to move them and quickly put them into place.

Flowers for the wedding ceremony can be placed at:

  • The altar and stairs leading up to it.
  • The ends of the pews, especially for the families.
  • The wedding candelabras or unity candle.
  • The ends of the aisle and wedding arch (for an outdoor wedding).
  • The table where you sign the register

Flowers for the reception can be placed at:

  • The cake table or gift tables
  • Each table as a centrepieces or as buffet decorations
  • Cake decorations

For the wedding party, you will have to consider the wedding flowers for:

  • Bridal bouquet
  • Flower girl and bridesmaids
  • Groomsmen boutonnieres, those for the fathers and, of course, the groom
  • Corsages for the mothers and grandmothers

These are just the minimum requirements for most wedding flowers and there can be much more needed, especially if you are having a formal wedding and a large reception with many people. The general rule of thumb is that the wedding flowers are normally in direct proportion to the size of the wedding, so the more people you invite, the bigger the floral display should be.
