Wedding Planning Tips
No one can really prepare, or fully inform you about everything there is to know, beware of and keep in mind when planning your wedding. Remember: from the day you get engaged emotions are high and more intense than usual because you are planning the most special day of your entire life – your wedding. I’d like to share vital wedding planning tips that only comes from experience and includes those things that no one ever tells you.
- The wedding venue
When searching for a wedding venue stay realistic and practical. Because you want every little detail to be perfect (those emotions) one tends to go a little overboard, especially the venue hire and other related costs. Remember that a wedding consists of a variety of factors from flowers, thank you gifts, spa and pampering sessions, dresses, a lot of décor and accessories, stationery etc. This all makes up for a beautiful wedding and not just the wedding venue. What does it help paying a fortune for the wedding venue but you end up cutting down on every other important thing like your dress, flowers, décor, and photographer. You will end up being utterly disappointed as you could not afford half the stuff that made your perfect wedding and you’ll have to settle for less.
- Photography and video photography
Yes, photos are important but having a professionally done DVD is só much more valuable and your moneys worth. A DVD shows people’s character and personality much more realistically than on a photo. It also captures your entire wedding day, emotions between loved ones, the chemistry between you and your partner, and people can leave you a personal message. But truly, 10 years down the line you won’t remember half of what was said at the sermon, the reception, and how beautiful you looked ten years ago on your wedding day! It is value that can not be bought through photos. Instead select a smaller photography package and invest in a DVD.
- Plan well in advance
If you are working full time, at the office or at home, try to plan and organise those things practically possible the first three months after your engagement. The last two months before the wedding gets very emotional and stressful especially between you and your partner. Important decisions, those that sometimes involve different personalities and expectations, need to be made. Therefore don’t leave these decisions to be made at the end; it will cause unnecessary and unwanted disagreements between you and your partner right before your wedding.
- Work leave before the wedding
If at all possible, book a week’s leave before the wedding. If you need to worry about deadlines the day before your wedding, you will omit yourself the opportunity of soaking in, and fully comprehending what a special event is about to happen in your life. Book all your pampering sessions a couple of days or a week before the wedding.
- Choose the people wisely for your bridal preparation
Remember that the day of your wedding is filled with excitement but equally tension. When selecting the people for e.g. bridesmaid/s, friends and mother who’ll accompany you on your wedding day whilst you are preparing, choose them wisely! If your mother or a friend has a tendency to always highlight the negative instead of the positive, don’t ask them to join you. You’ll end up a nerve wreck when walking down the isle.
